Alpha Andrews was born on August 20, 1932 in Habersham County, Georgia.  Her first painting to be exhibited was a memory painting inspired by an incident in her father’s cotton field.  It was included in “Art from the Heart” at the Lyndon House Art Center in Athens, Ga.  Her success at the Lyndon House led to an exhibition at Toad Hall in Cooperstown, N.Y.  Her work is part of permanent collection of The Folk Art Museum, N.Y.C., and is displayed on the back cover of the Rosenak’s “Field Guide to American Folk Art.”
