 Charley Kinney

Born in 1906 in Kentucky, Charley continued to lived there throughout his life.  He "finished" school after third grade and devoted lots of time to his his favorite hobby -- creating "storytelling pictures."  He mostly worked with watercolors on poster board.  Over his life time he painted several hundred works of art. His subject matter included animals, ghosts, devils and religious stories.  Kinney has been included in many exhibits featuring the lore of the Kentucky hills and is in many private collections.  He's best known as a storytelling mountain man -- whether the stories were painted, played on his fiddle or just plain old told.
