Cher Shaffer was born in 1947 in Georgia.  She has been making art for 30 years and has been featured in many group and solo shows.  She also has enjoyed teaching thousands of children and young adults, and leading “workshops for a variety of organizations and institutions, for everyone from frazzled executives to women at risk.”  Of her work, Cher says, “I am a self-taught artist and feel that I am influenced by both my heritage and life experiences.  I find my interactions with my family and others, both seen and unseen, to be endless inspiration.”  Cher’s work has been featured in the traveling exhibition and book titled: “O’ Appalachia,” and is featured in several museums and institutions throughout the Southeast and Midwest.
