Taft
Richardson
was born in Zephyrhills, Florida.
He passed away on November 30, 2008. Richardson made extraordinary bone sculptures. With patience
and great spiritual thought he pieced together the cleaned bones
of animals such as a bird, a house rat, a cat, and even a horse
to create intricate, lyrical, and perfectly balanced figures of
animals and people. He used a special mixture of crushed bone and glue
to unite the sculpture with flawless seams. Taft said he never
cut the bones because "Who can improve on God's work." Instead,
he waited for just the right one to complete a piece. "Something
must die first... though I never take a life." One sculpture
could take him years to complete. Taft gave
full credit to God for the creation of his work. |
