Udell
is a sixty-something grandmother who has always had an artistic
flare, but no time to pursue her talents until she moved to the
Smokey Mountains of North Carolina several years ago. With no
formal training Udell began to compose a series of remarkable
assemblages of wood, polymer clay, and found objects. The
inspiration for each piece comes from her rich life experiences,
and from her keen sense of humor. Udell's pieces convey a
whimsical childlike charm and character that speaks to the inner
child in each of us. Simplicity of form, mixed with vivid colors
and textures, make her work a genre unto itself. Since she began
her creations she has placed pieces in private collections
throughout the US and Canada. Udell's works are for the serious
folk art collector and those who are seeking truly unusual
decorative arts for their home.
